One-to-one correspondence

As children mature, their development of mathematical concepts continues. Before they know addition and subtraction, they are forming ideas that will be the foundation of their mathematical learning. 

Children are working on strengthening their understanding of one-to-one correspondence (the concept that one number corresponds with one object). They are also working on recognizing numbers, ordering, sequencing and the concept of ten. 







Our space inquiry

We asked the students what they would like to transform our dramatic play area into. A few students suggested a spaceship or space station. From there we brainstormed all the things we want to learn about space.

Learning about word families

To strengthen our reading and writing skills, we've began to learn about different word families. We started with the at and an families. We discussed how these words rhyme and sound the same. They may have a different beginning sound, and the same ending sound.
