Making ten frames
To deepen our basic number understanding, we created a large ten frame. We used ourselves to represent numbers and create basic math sentences to ten.
Calendar
To strengthen our understanding of the numbers 1-5 and 1-10, we created a monthly calendar using 5 frames. Each day we put a new dot on the calendar. We count how may days we've been at school that week and how many days until the weekend.
We discussed how we need many rows because there are multiple weeks in a month.
We included pictures on our calendar to demonstrate what we've done and what we've been learning about this month.
Welcome back!
Welcome back! We hope everyone had a restful, relaxing March break. We are all happy to be back and looking forward to some more fantastic learning opportunities in the weeks ahead.

Take-home reading program
We are very excited to begin our take-home reading program. Students will be receiving a new book every Wednesday and are asked to return their folder to school on Monday. Students are encouraged to read their book multiple times to increase confidence and fluency.
Happy reading!

Celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday
We have been reading many different Dr. Seuss books over the past few weeks. We have been learning about and identifying different rhyming words (a common theme in many of his children's books).
March 2nd was Dr. Seuss's birthday and the students thought that this deserved a special celebration. We had a fun filled afternoon learning about and celebrating his many wonderful stories.

Learning about money
Seeing as we transformed our dramatic play area into a coffee shop, we began to talk and learn about money. We started by discussing why it is important to learn about money.
We talked about coins and bills. Each coin looks different and is worth a different amount. We examined and compared coins.
