Our pumpkin investigations

We made pumpkin play dough. Click here for our recipe. Building our fine motor skills, cooperating and using our imaginations.

Discussing how many different ways we can measure a pumpkin.

What does a pumpkin look like? What does a pumpkin feel like? What do you think is inside a pumpkin?

Discussing and labeling the parts of a pumpkin.

Sorting the pumpkin seeds.

Stamping the parts of a pumpkin.

Halloween Fun

Finding and printing Halloween words.

Classroom Exploration

Exploring different centers around the classroom. We are learning:
  • how to take turns
  • how to communicate
  • how to problem solve
  • to express our creativity and imagination

Fall wonderings

Learning about and comparing the different seasons. Sorting pictures on the Smart Board.

Talking about the leaves; why do they change colours? We read the story Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson.

First day feelings

We read the book First Day Jitters written by Julie Danneberg. We talked about how we felt on our first day of school. We decided to make a graph.

We read the book How Will I Get to School This Year? Written by Jerry Pallotta. We graphed how we get to school each day with Mme. Lepage.

  • 10:00-11:00 - Educational learning centers (a snack table will be open throughout center time)

  • 11:35-12:05 - Outside recess
  • 12:15-12:25 - Book time (students look at books independently; a good way to transition from recess to lunch)
